The Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba, has called on students and teachers not to underestimate the value of Humanities and Arts subjects, emphasizing their role in understanding history and shaping the future of society.
Speaking during a thanksgiving Mass for Senior Four and Senior Six candidates at Bukulula Girls Senior Secondary School in Kalungu District, Bishop Jjumba highlighted that Humanities contribute significantly to the moral, social, and cultural development of communities.
He praised the school’s leadership for upholding the vision of its founder, the late Bishop Henri Streicher, who championed the education of the girl child at a time when she was largely undervalued and confined to domestic roles.
Bishop Jjumba encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies and strive to build meaningful careers that will contribute positively to national development.
He also urged the school administration to continue prioritizing moral values and character formation alongside academic excellence, noting that education should produce holistic individuals.
