FDC’s Mafabi Pledges Electricity, Fish Factory for Buvuma if Elected President

Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has pledged to connect Buvuma District to the national electricity grid as part of efforts to spur economic growth and tackle persistent power shortages in the area.

While campaigning in the island district, Mafabi promised that, once elected president in the 2026 general elections, his government would establish a mega fish processing factory to harness Buvuma’s rich lake resources and create jobs.

He said the project would play a significant role in alleviating poverty and boosting local incomes.

In addition to addressing power challenges, Mafabi committed to upgrading Buvuma’s road network and improving connections with neighboring districts to ease transport and trade.

Mafabi, who also serves as FDC Secretary General, is using his presidential bid to challenge the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

He has been actively engaging in grassroots consultations aimed at revitalizing the party’s structures ahead of the 2026 polls.
