Hundreds of faithful pilgrims gathered at the Saint Padre Pio Shrine in Kabulamuliro to commemorate the feast day of the revered saint.
Leading the pilgrimage was Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, the Apostolic Nuncio, who presided over the Eucharistic celebration.
During his homily, Archbishop Kasujja urged Christians to lead lives rooted in prayer, drawing inspiration from Saint Padre Pio, who completely entrusted himself to God through the Blessed Virgin Mary.
He emphasized that prayer was one of Padre Pio’s most powerful spiritual weapons, alongside his deep devotion and acts of charity.
“Saint Padre Pio bore the stigmata—the wounds of Christ on his hands, feet, and side for 50 years, yet he never wavered in his faith. His unwavering commitment is something every Christian should strive to emulate,” the Archbishop said.
However, Archbishop Kasujja also expressed concern over a growing trend of believers straying from the Roman Catholic Church in pursuit of miracles and personal gain.
He warned that such diversions risk eroding trust in God and reminded the faithful that, “It is difficult to serve two masters at the same time.”
The Archbishop’s message called for renewed faith and a return to the core values exemplified by Saint Padre Pio: prayer, humility, and total surrender to God.
