Namirembe Diocese to Host Mass Wedding for 50 Couples in September

Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Banja

At least 50 couples are expected to exchange vows during a Mass Wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe Diocese, on September 19, 2025.

The event is being organized by the Church of Uganda as a gesture of goodwill to its congregation and a commitment to strengthening Christian families.

Speaking to the press ahead of the event, the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Banja, described the Mass Wedding as part of the Church’s broader evangelical outreach.

He emphasized that the initiative is designed to give couples the opportunity to solemnize their marriages in a godly, dignified, and affordable manner, highlighting the importance of strong families as the cornerstone of both the Church and society at large.

Rev. Stephen LumuLwasi, the Diocesan Mission Secretary at Namirembe Cathedral, also spoke on the significance of the event.

He pointed out that many couples today are unable to meet the high costs of traditional wedding ceremonies, and the Church’s initiative provides both a practical and spiritual alternative.

The Mass Wedding will coincide with the Diocesan Convention, marking a key moment of faith, unity, and renewal within the Namirembe Diocese.
