During the fundraising event held at Rubaga Cathedral, various departments within the Archdiocese came together and contributed a total of over UGX 73.2 million.

Among the major contributors were the Kampala Archdiocesan Priests’ Association, led by Fr. Francis Xavier Kikomeko, which donated UGX 20 million.

Other departments also made generous contributions, including the Catechists with UGX 3.3 million, the Youth Apostolate with UGX 4 million, the Married Couples group with UGX 8.3 million, and the Heads of Laity with UGX 17.7 million. Members of the Women’s and Men’s Guild also took part in the campaign.

In his remarks, Archbishop Ssemogerere expressed deep gratitude to the faithful for their continued generosity and dedication to the mission of the Church.

He emphasized the importance of collective effort in preserving the legacy of Rubaga Cathedral as it approaches its 100th anniversary.

The event was also graced by the Minister for Kampala, Hajat Minsa Kabanda, who contributed UGX 3 million and pledged to rally support from both the people of Kampala and fellow Cabinet members.

Meanwhile, Hajati Faridah Nambi, a former parliamentary candidate for Kawempe North, donated UGX 2 million and promised to mobilize her local community to support the ongoing campaign.

Renovation works are already in progress, with a total budget of UGX 2.4 billion allocated for the project.

The Archdiocese remains committed to completing the works in time for the grand celebrations in October next year.
