The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has turned the scenic Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe into a bustling registration centre, offering a range of national ID services during the 30th Annual Seminar of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
The three-day seminar has brought together over 2,000 public accountants from across the country to discuss key professional topics, including the latest international standards on sustainability reporting.
While these sessions take place indoors, NIRA has set up operations just outside the venue to serve attendees.
According to Peter Okwalinga, NIRA’s Communications and Media Officer, the authority is not merely present as a guest but is officially partnering with ICPAU to provide on-site registration services.
These include new national ID applications, renewals, replacement of lost IDs, and even birth certificate issuance.
“We are here to make it easier for professionals to access essential identification services without having to visit our offices,” Okwalinga said.
He also used the opportunity to call on parents to take advantage of the school holiday period to register their children.
Okwalinga encouraged parents to visit the nearest NIRA offices on Thursdays and Fridays, when the authority prioritizes child registrations, assuring them that all necessary data will be collected during those visits.
The collaboration reflects a growing effort by NIRA to bring services closer to the people, especially during large national gatherings and conferences.
