The Electoral Commission (EC) has cautioned all duly nominated candidates against engaging in any form of campaign activity before the official campaign period begins.
This warning comes as the EC continues its countrywide nomination exercise for District/City Chairpersons, Lord Mayors, and Councilors, which started yesterday and is scheduled to conclude on 5th September 2025.
In Wakiso District, nominations began with candidates from Entebbe Municipality, Busiro South, and Makindye Ssabagabo. On 4th September, the EC processed nominations for Nansana Municipality, Busiro East, and Busiro North.
The final group, including candidates from Kira Municipality and Kyadondo East, will be nominated on 5th September.
Tolbert Musinguzi, the Presiding Officer for Wakiso District, emphasized that campaigns are officially set to begin on 10th November 2025.
He warned that any candidate found campaigning before this date would be violating electoral laws and will face consequences.
Musinguzi further noted that the 2025/2026 General Elections roadmap has already been made public and should be strictly adhered to.
He explained that the early start to the nomination process is intended to give candidates and political parties ample time to prepare and organize effectively.
Among the key candidates nominated in Wakiso on 4th September were Ian Kyeyune of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Flavia Nakafeero of the Democratic Front, both vying for the Wakiso District LCV Chairperson seat.
