President Museveni Urges Ugandans Abroad to Register with Government for Better Planning and Engagement

President Yoweri Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has called on Ugandans living abroad to formally register with the government through their respective associations, as part of efforts to enhance national planning and deepen engagement with the diaspora community.

The President made the appeal while addressing a delegation of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party members from across the globe at State Lodge, Nakasero, following the recently concluded NRM Delegates Conference.

Highlighting the need for accurate data, President Museveni stressed that the registration initiative is not exclusive to NRM supporters, but targets all Ugandans living overseas.

He noted that a clear and comprehensive mapping of the Diaspora will enable the government to build better support structures, strengthen bilateral ties, and unlock investment and development opportunities.

The President also emphasized that determining the actual number of Ugandans living abroad currently estimated at around four million would improve the government’s ability to engage effectively with this significant population.
