Uganda’s youth have unveiled an ambitious UGX 25 billion initiative to build a National Youth and Student Center in Gulu, a bold project that combines peace, politics, and Pan-African youth empowerment.
At the launch, Johnson Emmanuel Obbo, Secretary for Mobilization, described the center as a one-of-a-kind educational and innovation hub, designed and run by youth, for youth.
The project will kick off with a nationwide Peace Run on September 21st, aligning with the UN International Day of Peace.
It will culminate in a 2026 fundraising concert featuring Burna Boy, expected to raise UGX 1 billion.
Rodney Adroni, Speaker of the 8th National Youth Parliament, highlighted the center’s political and symbolic significance, framing it as a reward for 30 years of peace and a lasting legacy beyond the current generation.
With a target outreach spanning 71,000 villages and over 2,200 sub-counties, the initiative blends grassroots mobilization, cultural energy, and political messaging, openly supporting President Museveni’s continued leadership.
