Ugandan Youth Set Off for Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Kibeho, Rwanda

Joyce Zako, the National Youth Coordinator of the Uganda Episcopal Conference

A group of young pilgrims from various Catholic dioceses across Uganda is embarking on a week-long pilgrimage to Kibeho, Rwanda, a place renowned for the Marian apparitions of the 1980s.

The pilgrimage, organized by the National Youth Office of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, has attracted a total of sixty pilgrims.

According to the program, the journey begins with Holy Mass this evening, followed by an orientation session, supper, and departure.

The group is expected to arrive in Kibeho on Tuesday afternoon.

Joyce Zako, the National Youth Coordinator of the Uganda Episcopal Conference and the lead organizer of the pilgrimage, has encouraged all Catholics not to miss the opportunity to undertake a pilgrimage during this Jubilee Year.

She emphasized the spiritual significance of visiting Marian shrines, particularly in this Jubilee Year of Hope, as a powerful expression of faith and renewal.

Kibeho remains a sacred site for many, drawing pilgrims from around the world who seek healing, reflection, and deeper devotion to Mary, the Mother of God.
