The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has launched The 2025 Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund known as SAAFU a campaign with anambitious target of UGX 20 billion, towards the construction of the a priests’ residence in Bweya.
The facility is envisioned as a rest and retirement home for clergy, aimed at enhancing the well-being of those who have dedicated their lives to ministry.
The Ssabasumba Annual Appeal Fund, is a Catholic Church fund established to raise money for Archdiocesan projects, such as welfare and development, and this particular launch is going towards the construction of a retirement home for elderly priests in Bweeya, Kabula-Muliro parish.
During the event held at Our Lady Queen of Virgins Kisubi Catholic Parish in Entebbe Vicariate, Archbishop Ssemogerere urged Christians and well-wishers to support the construction of the retirement home that is coming to provide a decent place for elderly priests to live in.
He also used the same opportunity to advise leaders and parents to be simple, approachable and supporting to those in need and children who are in their holidays. He emphasized that parents must teach their children valuable life skills such as humility, resilience, and obedience.
Looking ahead to the 2026 general elections, His Grace Archbishop Ssemogerere encouraged Ugandans and Christians to come out and get involved in leadership, to serve Uganda.
