14th Rotary Cancer Run 2025 raises UGX 3.5 Bn

The 14th Rotary Cancer Run 2025 has collected UGX 3.5 billion towards the construction of cancer bankers at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya. 

The run held on 31st August at Kololo Independence grounds in Kampala attracted over 60,000 who include organizations and institutions, professionals, activists, politicians and well-wishers from here and abroad.

Among the organizations and institutions is Centenary Bank a major contributor to the initiative who banked UGX 500 million for this year’s Rotary Cancer Run 

“Running For A Cause” was the theme of Cancer Run 2025. This year’s run, was not more than just a run; it’s a movement of hope, strength, and unity in the fight against.

While addressing journalists after the run at Kololo grounds today Fabian Kasi Centenary Bank Executive director said that this significant financial commitment is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Investment strategy and will fund cancer awareness, treatment infrastructure and the construction of the Rotary-Centenary Bank Cancer Centre. 

Kasi reminded all Ugandan to always participate in this annual cancer run event to save life because cancer can affect anyone, anytime.

This year’s 14th Rotary Cancer Run targeted to raise UGX 4 billion to complete the second phase of a dedicated radiotherapy center in Uganda. This critical health facility will be equipped with two state-of-the-art Linear Accelerators for cancer treatment and testing, alongside a comprehensive diagnostic and care unit.

Speaking at the activation, Meddie Lutaaya, Vice Chairperson of the 2025 Rotary Cancer Run, emphasized the gravity of the cancer burden in Uganda. “Every year, 33,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed in Uganda. Tragically, 80% of these patients die within the first year due to late diagnosis,” he noted.

Meanwhile Bakaima property dealers have given out a prize of fully titled 50 x 100 piece of land in Wakiso to the 2025 best seller of cancer run kits.

Karim Kaweesa, the Managing Director of Bakaima property dealers said they started this initiative to boast the selling of kits hence to help people suffering from cancer.
