Tight Security at Kololo as NRM Delegates Conference Kicks Off

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson,

Security agencies have been heavily deployed at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to ensure the safety of the four-day National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates Conference, which officially kicked off on Monday.

The conference follows a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held over the weekend at State House Entebbe.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, security has been intensified on all roads leading to the venue, in designated parking areas, and within the conference grounds.

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson, announced several traffic guidelines to facilitate smooth access to the venue for invited participants.

Sezibwa Road from Fairway Hotel to the Golf Course access at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds has been designated as the main route for invited guests.

Other roads, such as John Babiha Avenue to Acacia Avenue and Jinja Road to Acacia Avenue leading to the Golf Course, will remain open to normal traffic.

However, Lower and Upper Kololo Terraces have been reserved exclusively for Very Very Important Persons (VVIPs).

Wampeewo Avenue, particularly at the Housing Finance Bank section heading towards Kololo, has been marked as a cut-off point.

The heightened security measures are aimed at ensuring a smooth and safe conference as the NRM party deliberates on key issues ahead of the 2026 general elections.
