NRM Kicks Off National Delegates Conference at Kololo with Special Interest Group Elections

NRM Kicks Off National Delegates Conference

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has commenced its National Delegates Conference at Kololo Independence Grounds, beginning with the election of leaders for various Special Interest Groups.

The groups participating in the elections include Historical Leaders, Veterans, Entrepreneurs, Workers, Youths, Elders, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Women.

Each league will elect a five-member committee consisting of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Secretary for Finance, and Secretary for Publicity.

The election process will primarily involve lining up behind preferred candidates, except for the Workers’ category, who will vote by secret ballot.

The elected leaders will then go on to participate in the selection of party flag bearers for PWDs, Workers, Youths, and Elders at the parliamentary level.

NRM Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni opened the event, which is seen as a strategic move to shape the party’s leadership and direction ahead of the 2026 general elections.

This event is part of the party’s broader efforts to strengthen internal democracy and prepare for the upcoming polls.

Currently, NRM delegates dressed in the party’s signature yellow are gathered at Kololo, awaiting the official opening of the event under tight security.
