Uganda Airlines Management Snubs COSASE Meeting, Fresh Summons Issued

COSASE Chairperson and Busiro East MP Medard Sseggona

In a surprising development, Uganda Airlines management, led by CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki, failed to appear before Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) today, despite being scheduled to respond to critical concerns rose in the Auditor General’s report for the 2023/2024 financial year.

The committee chaired by MP Medard Ssegona, expressed concern over the no-show, noting that the meeting was meant to follow up on issues previously discussed with the airline’s leadership.

In response to the absence, Chairperson Ssegona issued fresh summons, rescheduling the meeting to Wednesday.

The new summons has been broadened to include Uganda Airlines’ former management team, led by Cornwell Muleta.

The former leadership is under scrutiny for its controversial procurement of four CRJ Bombardier jets aircraft models that are reportedly out of production and lacking readily available spare parts.

COSASE says it will seek accountability and clarity on decisions that could have long-term implications for the national carrier’s viability and performance.
