The community of Kasangati is in mourning following the tragic killing of 51-year-old businessman Deo Bwanika, who was shot dead during a violent robbery at his workplace along Nangabo Road in Kitagobwa last night.
Bwanika, a well-known and respected resident, was attacked around 10:00 p.m. by six masked men posing as customers. The assailants, armed with guns and pangas, demanded money before violence erupted.
During the scuffle, Bwanika was fatally shot.
An employee, identified only as Julius, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while attempting to defend his employer.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident and stated that the suspects fled the scene on two motorcycles with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No arrests have been made so far, but investigations are ongoing.
