The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has launched the 10th edition of the Accountancy Service Awards (ASSA), emphasizing professionalism, ethical leadership, and national impact amid ongoing challenges in transparency and accountability in Uganda.

Lydia Tusiime, ICPAU’s Manager of Business Development, explained that the awards recognize outstanding contributions across eight categories.

The prestigious ICPAU Gold Service Award honors members with over 20 years of exceptional service in accountancy, including mentorship, innovation, and scholarly achievements.

The CPA of the Year award celebrates individuals with at least ten years of service who demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and innovative leadership.

The Woman Accountant of the Year category is reserved exclusively for women who have significantly impacted their organizations through leadership and innovation.

Meanwhile, the Young Accountant of the Year award targets energetic CPAs under 35 making remarkable contributions in the profession.

This year, the Finance Team of the Year category has been expanded to include teams from all economic sectors, emphasizing teamwork, creativity, and measurable business impact.

Accounting firms are also recognized based on professionalism, while institutional partners supporting the profession are invited to submit nominations.

Sandra Nakibuule Batte, Chairperson of the ICPAU Member Services Committee, highlighted the awards’ role in reinforcing professional standards, boosting career advancement, and enhancing trust and credibility among clients and peers.

She added that ASSA offers valuable networking opportunities and public recognition that motivate continuous excellence.

Immaculate Ngulumi, Chief Manager of Marketing and Branding at Centenary Bank, praised the awards as a celebration of professionalism that promotes accountability and ethical practices essential for Uganda’s development.

She reaffirmed the bank’s sponsorship of the event and encouraged the public to nominate deserving accountants.
