KCCA Re-launches Kampala City Festival, Calls for Support from Stakeholders

Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Sharifah Buzeki

The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Sharifah Buzeki, has officially re-launched the Kampala City Festival with a strong appeal to the business community, political leaders, and sponsors to support the revived event.

The festival is scheduled to take place on October 5, 2025.

Speaking during the launch ceremony held this morning at City Hall in Kampala, Buzeki emphasized that the Authority intends to use the annual festival as a platform to promote city tourism and celebrate Kampala’s vibrant culture.

She noted that the return of the Kampala City Festival should remind the public of the strength, creativity, and optimism that defines the city and its people.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Kampala, Kyofatogabye Kibuye, endorsed the revival of the festival, describing it as a pre-Independence celebration and a unifying event for Kampala’s diverse population.

The Chairperson of this year’s City Festival, Sheila Birungi Gandi, announced that a series of pre-events will precede the main celebration, which will culminate at Kololo Independence Grounds.

These pre-events will include a No Litter Week, a Car-Free Day, free medical camps, and visits to children’s homes.

This year’s festival will be held under the theme: “Celebrating Kampala: Its Culture, Innovation, and Sustainability.”
