President Yoweri Museveni has pledged a total of UGX 1.2 billion to the Uganda Cranes as an incentive for each victory during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is being co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
The announcement was delivered by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who relayed the President’s message to the media.
According to the arrangement, each player on the national team will receive UGX 30 million per match won, as motivation during the tournament.
Speaker Among also praised both President Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports, for their ongoing commitment to sports development in Uganda.
Uganda is scheduled to face Algeria this evening at 8PM at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, in what is expected to be a highly anticipated fixture.
