NUP Confident of Concluding Candidate Vetting Process on Schedule

The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Electoral Management Commission (EMC) has expressed confidence in completing the vetting of all party candidates within the designated timeframe.

Speaking to journalists today at the NUP party headquarters, Ivan Ssempijja, the Deputy Chairperson of the Party Electoral Commission, confirmed that the vetting exercise in Kampala and Wakiso districts will be concluded by tomorrow.

Ssempijja stated that the Commission is satisfied with the performance and suitability of candidates who have gone through the process, emphasizing that the party remains committed to ensuring a thorough and credible vetting exercise.

“This process reflects our commitment to fronting competent and dedicated individuals who can effectively represent the people of Uganda in various political spaces,” he said.

He also reiterated that NUP’s internal electoral process is rooted in the party’s guiding values of progressivism and constitutionalism, with the ultimate goal of advancing participatory democracy and good governance in the country.

The completion of the vetting exercise is a key step ahead of the party’s preparation for upcoming electoral contests across Uganda.
