Kampala Archdiocese cooperative exhibition kicks-off this Friday

The Kampala Archdiocese is set to host the third edition of the Cooperative Society Exhibition, organized under its social development arm, Caritas Kampala, from August 1 to 3, 2025.

The three-day event will bring together 42 cooperatives and SACCOs affiliated with the Catholic Church to showcase their work and promote socio-economic empowerment within the community.

The exhibition will be held at Naddangira Catholic Parish in Wakiso District, and aims to raise awareness on the role of cooperatives in fighting poverty, promoting financial inclusion, and building sustainable livelihoods.

Fr. Peter Musumba, Director of Caritas Kampala, addressed exhibitors gathered for a preparatory meeting at the parish, noting that cooperatives have played a key role in improving local businesses.

He said the upcoming exhibition will enhance knowledge about cooperative operations and offer participants an opportunity to learn more about product marketing and value addition.

The event will run under the theme: “Cooperative: A Drive for Sustainable Financial, Social, and Integral Human Development.”

Anthony Kawuki Lukwago, Chairperson of Naddangira Agali Awamu SACCO Limited, announced that the exhibition will feature special guests each day.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, is expected to grace the opening day, while Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi will attend as guest of honor on the second day.

The exhibition will conclude with a Mass led by the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, on the final day.

To ensure the safety of exhibitors and visitors, ASP Juliet Nabulime from Kakiri Police Station assured organizers that the Uganda Police Force will provide adequate security throughout the event.

The exhibition is expected to attract a wide audience including cooperative members, church leaders, financial institutions, and members of the public eager to learn and invest in community-led development models.
