NEED party officially launched, promises economic empowerment ahead of 2026 elections

NEED President Joseph Kabuleeta

The Opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) party has officially launched its operations, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s political landscape.

This development follows the Electoral Commission’s issuance of a certificate confirming NEED’s registration as a fully-fledged political party.

Speaking to delegates and journalists during the launch event at Moonlight Gardens in Nsambya today, party president Joseph Kabuleeta emphasized that NEED’s core mission is centered on economic empowerment, transparency, and democracy.

“Our goal is to put money in people’s pockets,” Kabuleeta stated — a message that resonates with many Ugandans yearning for economic stability.

With its official registration now complete, NEED is gearing up for active participation in the 2026 general elections.

The party plans to unveil its national roadmap, recruit candidates, and roll out mass sensitization campaigns to promote its economic empowerment agenda.

Membership in the party is structured at three levels: Shs 5,000, Shs 50,000, and Shs 1 million for life membership.

Kabuleeta urged Ugandans to support NEED candidates and vote for him as Uganda’s 10th president, declaring the party as the path to national liberation.
