The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission is finalizing the list of declared parliamentary flag bearers from the recently concluded party primaries.
However, delays in announcing results from some regions are being attributed to electoral malpractice, altered results, and violence.
According to Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, the affected areas include Mukono Municipality in Greater Mukono, Namutumba District in the Busoga region, and Karenga in Karamoja, among others.
While addressing the media on the state of the primaries, Dr. Odoi cited challenges such as voter bribery, tribal politics, and procedural irregularities that disrupted the electoral process in some districts.
Regions where results have been fully declared and flag bearers confirmed include Kampala, Greater Mubende, Lango, Acholi, and Bugisu.
Dr. Odoi also called on party members to prepare for the next round of NRM primaries, scheduled for July 24–25, which will cover elections for LC5 chairpersons, Lord Mayor, councillors, and Special Interest Group representatives.
He urged all members to participate actively in the upcoming polls.
