President Museveni urges Wakiso and Kampala residents to focus on wealth creation during PDM assessment tour

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged residents of Wakiso and Kampala not to be distracted by visible signs of development such as roads, electricity, schools, and factories but instead to focus on personal efforts towards wealth creation.

Speaking at a public rally at Wampewo Community Playground in Wakiso District on Monday, the President acknowledged the region’s significant infrastructural progress but emphasized that true transformation begins at the household level.

He called on residents to engage in income-generating activities as a sustainable path to eradicating poverty.

President Museveni pointed out that economic growth hinges on citizens effectively utilizing available resources to create wealth.

The rally marked the start of President Museveni’s wealth creation and Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour in Wakiso District, which has a population of 3,411,177 people, according to the 2024 Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Population Census.

The district includes four municipalities Entebbe, Nansana, Kira, and Makindye-Ssabagabo along with Wakiso Rural.

On the first day of his tour, President Museveni visited Kagoma Skilling Metal Fabricators in Nansana Municipality and addressed carpenters and metal fabricators in Kawanda.

He also met with Parish Development Model beneficiaries engaged in piggery and poultry farming in Gombe Division.

These visits were aimed at inspiring local communities by showcasing success stories of individuals involved in productive ventures.

The President encouraged the youth to take full advantage of government programs, particularly the Parish Development Model, which is designed to transition households from subsistence farming to market-oriented production.
