Liverpool mourns “Unimaginable Loss” as Diogo Jota dies in tragic car crash at 28

Diogo Jota

Liverpool FC has expressed heartbreak over the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota, who was killed in a car crash at the age of 28.

The Portugal international died alongside his younger brother, André Silva, 25, after their vehicle veered off the road due to a tyre blowout in Spain’s Zamora province.

Jota had recently married his long-time partner, Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children.

The couple had tied the knot just weeks before the accident.

In a statement, Liverpool said they were “devastated” by the “unimaginable loss” of a player who was admired both on and off the pitch.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who played alongside Jota on the national team, sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, especially Jota’s wife and children.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) paid tribute, stating that Jota was “much more than an amazing player,” acknowledging his impact not only as a footballer but as a cherished teammate and person.

The football world continues to mourn one of its brightest talents, whose career and life were tragically cut short.
