DF delegates’ conference kicks off with leadership elections and key party shifts

The Democratic Front (DF), has officially kicked off its Delegates Conference

The opposition political pressure group, The Democratic Front (DF), has officially kicked off its Delegates Conference with the verification and screening of delegates at Laston Gardens in Masaka City.

Over 700 delegates have been screened to participate in this landmark conference, the first of its kind since the party was unveiled just a month ago.

Addressing delegates at Masaka’s Kimaanya-Kabonera, a prominent legislator and advocate for the DF highlighted that sixty-five (65) leadership positions within the party are up for election during today’s ongoing conference.

Bwanika also informed the delegates that party leadership will be elected through a secret ballot, emphasizing this process over individual appointments, a practice that some other parties currently follow.

In a significant development at the conference, Masaka District Chairperson Lukyamuzi Batemyetto announced his decision to leave the National Unity Platform (NUP) and join the Democratic Alliance (DA).

He cited the DA’s promising future compared to other opposition parties as the key reason for his defection.
