President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who also serves as the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), is expected to pick nomination forms on Saturday, 28th June.

This is signaling his interest in contesting for two key positions within the party NRM National Chairperson and Presidential Flag Bearer for the 2026 general elections.

The announcement comes as the NRM prepares to open the nomination process for various leadership positions within the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).

According to the party’s electoral roadmap, the process officially begins on Thursday, 26th June, at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters.

Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, has confirmed the development and called on all party members to prepare to receive the party chairman in large numbers as a sign of support.

More than 20 positions within the CEC are expected to be contested during this phase, as the ruling party intensifies preparations ahead of the 2026 general elections.
