Police have confirmed the arrest of three individuals affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) in connection with a planned demonstration at the party’s offices in Makerere Kavule, Kawempe Division, on June 10, 2025.
The suspects have been identified as Julius Kibuga, a 31-year-old driver from Katooke, Nansana; Isama Ssenabulya, a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Mulago UEB Zone; and Fred Luwaga.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the trio is accused of unlawfully assembling with the intent to stage a procession, an act that contravenes public order regulations.
Police also impounded a motor vehicle, registration number UAK 092V, which is currently being held at Wandegeya Police Station as part of ongoing investigations.
“The suspects were mobilising for an unlawful procession. Our intervention helped to prevent the situation from escalating,” Onyango stated.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public order and urged all citizens to adhere to existing legal frameworks when organizing public gatherings or demonstrations.
