PFF members hail Besigye as a true hero amid political struggles

Retired Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye

Retired Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, leader of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party, has been hailed as a true hero by his party members, who continue to draw inspiration from his unwavering resilience and commitment to his ideals.

Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the PFF spokesperson, described Besigye’s strength as an inspiration to the party, noting that members find motivation in his vision and ideas.

At 68, Besigye remains a key figure in Ugandan politics, despite facing numerous challenges, including being imprisoned multiple times.

He is currently being held at Luzira Prison since November 2024 on charges of treason.

Ssemujju Nganda emphasized that many individuals recognized as heroes are often “counterfeit,” but Besigye’s consistent dedication to his cause makes him a genuine hero in the eyes of the PFF.

In relation to the delayed registration of their party, Ssemujju appealed to the Electoral Commission to avoid any further delays, warning that such tactics could force interested individuals to join other political parties, even if those were not their preferred choices.

Michael Kabaziguruka, the party’s Electoral Commission Chairman, also addressed internal party matters, urging members to come forward and express their interest in various elective positions ahead of upcoming party primaries.
