Angerepo–Aumoi–Ongogonja road Launch in Katakwi District,

The government, through the Ministry of Works and Transport, has allocated UGX 1 billion for the construction of the Angerepo–Aumoi–Ongogonja road in Katakwi District, with the aim of improving connectivity to essential social services.

The 8.4-kilometer road project officially began over the weekend with bush clearing.

SEECO Hardware and Construction Company Limited has been awarded the contract and is expected to complete the roadwork within six months.

The project includes the installation of culverts, murmuring, shaping, and significant rehabilitation of the Aumoi Valley Dam section.

Engineer Edward Gagula, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, emphasized that the UGX 1 billion funding underscores the government’s commitment to nationwide infrastructure development.

He assured local leaders that the construction’s quality will be carefully monitored.

Vice President Jessica Alupo, who launched the project, urged the Ministry and contractor to collaborate closely for timely and high-quality delivery.

She also cautioned local residents and contractors against vandalism and theft of materials, calling for community support in ensuring the project’s success.

Katakwi District LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Omolo expressed gratitude for the government’s support, noting that the new road will significantly improve community access to government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).
