Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has urged aspirants within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to uphold party unity as they prepare for the upcoming internal primaries.
Her remarks came during a meeting with NRM leaders from Rukiga District at Parliament, where they officially endorsed her candidature for the position of Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) for the Eastern Regionon the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Among reaffirmed her dedication to strengthening grassroots mobilization and contributing to the broader growth and cohesion of the party.
She pledged to use her role on the Central Executive Committee to consolidate support at the grassroots level, ensuring the NRM continues to expand in both strength and organizational structure.
She also called on party leaders to prioritize unity and focus during the internal electoral process, emphasizing the need for peaceful, fair, and inclusive primaries.
Beyond party lines, she encouraged all Ugandans to promote harmony and national unity as the country heads into a politically active period.
