Catholic Bishops in Uganda launch martyrs edition of Good News Bible


The Uganda Episcopal Conference, in partnership with the Bible Society of Uganda, has produced a special edition of the Good News Bible the Martyrs Edition which integrates the devotion and legacy of the Uganda Martyrs into the Holy Scriptures.

This unique Bible was officially launched on June 3, 2025, during the Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrationsat the Catholic Shrine in Namugongo.

Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa, Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, presided over the launch before a massive congregation drawn from across the globe.

He described the new edition as a simplified yet enriched version of the Good News Bible, featuring profound insights and information about the Uganda Martyrs.

The Good News Bible Martyrs Edition stands as a tribute to the enduring faith and unwavering devotion of the Uganda Martyrs, who laid down their lives for their Christian beliefs.

Their courageous witness marked by suffering and sacrifice continues to inspire and challenge Christians worldwide.

Dedicated to the memory of those brave souls martyred between 1885 and 1887 this Bible serves as a powerful reminder of their courage, resilience and steadfast commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

May their example of faithfulness, even unto death, continue to challenge all Christians to live lives marked by courage, compassion and unwavering devotion to God.

The new Bible is now available for purchase at UGX 30,000 and is intended to deepen the reader’s understanding of God’s love and mercy.
