President Yoweri Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni is set to officially open the 5th session of the 11th Parliament on June 5th, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds, according to a communication made by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.

The President’s address will also serve as the State of the Nation Address, during which he is expected to provide a comprehensive review of the 2024/25 financial year, while outlining key priorities and plans for the 2025/26 financial year.

Speaker Among emphasized that the opening of the 5th session marks the final year of tenure for Members of Parliament under the current 11th Parliament

In addition, the Speaker announced that on June 12th, President Museveni will present the national budget for the 2025/26 financial yearat the same venue.

The budget has now been revised to UGX 72 trillion, up from the initial UGX 54 trillion estimates tabled before Parliament in early March 2025.

This significant increase in the budget highlights the government’s ambitious plans to boost infrastructure, health services, education, and economic recovery following global and regional challenges.

Key sectors expected to receive major allocations include roads and transport, energy, agriculture, and security.

As the curtain gradually draws on the 11th Parliament, analysts anticipate that the coming months will be pivotal, with MPs focusing on passing critical legislation, oversight on budget implementation, and laying a foundation for the next Parliament, expected to be elected in 2026.
