The funeral of Msgr. Expedito Magembe was marked by a somber and reflective atmosphere as hundreds gathered to bid farewell to the esteemed senior priest.

The burial took place at Kisubi Seminary Priests Cemetery following a heartfelt requiem mass led by His Grace Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere of Kampala.

During the service, Archbishop Ssemogerere described Msgr. Magembe as a courageous, industrious man of faith whose spiritual fruits have touched countless lives.

He highlighted the significant role the late priest played in fostering faith, especially through the Mount Zion Prayer Centre in Bukalango, which draws many seeking divine healing and spiritual growth.

The ceremony was attended by several bishops, including Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa of Kasana Luweero, Rt. Rev. Bishop Serverus Jjumba of Masaka, Rt. Rev. Bishop Christopher Kakooza of Lugazi, Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa of Kiyinda Mityana, and Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, among other priests.

Archbishop Ssemogerere urged mourners to pray for Msgr. Magembe’s eternal rest and to emulate his commitment to living a genuine Christian life.

Msgr. Expedito Magembe was born in 1937 in Nazareti, Kyotera district, within Masaka diocese.

His religious journey began with the Banakaloli brothers of Kiteredde, followed by studies at Katigondo and St. Mary’s National Major Seminary Ggaba.

Ordained in 1973 by the late Cardinal Emmanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga, he dedicated over five decades to pastoral work, including roles as the coordinator for education in Kampala Archdiocese and as a formatter at St. Mbagga’s Seminary.

He is remembered for founding the Mount Zion Prayer Centre in Bukalango, a sanctuary renowned for healing, deliverance, and fostering a deeper connection with Jesus Christ.
