President Yoweri Museveni, the National Chairman NRM

President Yoweri Museveni, the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the party’s grassroots elections taking place in all parts of the country.

He said this while at his home village of Nshwewerenkye, Rwakitura, Kiruhura District.

As part of a nationwide exercise to verify NRM registers and elect LC1 party flagbearers, Museveni personally took part in the process, describing it as a crucial step in strengthening the party’s democratic structures ahead of the 2026 general elections.

“Let us support our fellow NRM flagbearers and ensure we maintain the unity and continuity that has brought stability to our country,” Museveni said.

The President emphasized that the village-level elections were not only about choosing local leaders but also about solidifying the foundation for the broader NRM strategy leading into 2026.

He called on all registered NRM members to actively participate in the ongoing electoral exercise across the country.

The verification of the NRM register and election of LC1 flagbearers is being overseen by the NRM Electoral Commission, with the process scheduled to take place between 10a.m and 2p.m. in all villages nationwide.
