The Holy See has issued a statement from the College of Cardinals, currently gathered in Rome for General Congregations in preparation for the upcoming papal conclave.
According to a Vatican News release dated April 30th, the Cardinals have called on the faithful worldwide to join them in prayer during this significant period of discernment.
Acknowledging the gravity of their responsibility in choosing the next pope, the Cardinals highlighted the importance of spiritual support from the global Catholic community.
They described this time as a moment of grace, encouraging believers to approach it with openness to God’s will and a spirit of unity.
The College of Cardinals, convening on May 7th, announced that all 133 Cardinal electors participating in the upcoming conclave have the right to vote in selecting the new Pope, following the death of Pope Francis on April 21st.
