Former Minister Kabatsi announces bid for NRM primaries in Lwemiyaga County

Joy Kabatsi, former Minister of Transport

Joy Kabatsi, former Minister of Transport, has declared her intention to contest in the upcoming NRM party primaries for the parliamentary seat in Lwemiyaga County Sembabule District.

Lwemiyaga County is currently represented by long-serving NRM legislator Theodore Ssekikubo, who has been in Parliament for nearly 25 years.

Despite Ssekikubo’s active and vocal presence in parliament, Kabatsi contends that the people of Lwemiyaga have not sufficiently benefited from his prolonged tenure.

She emphasized her determination to run, stating that no amount of intimidation or competition from other candidates—including former UPDF officer Emmanuel Rwashande—will prevent her from vying for the seat and winning the race.

Kabatsi’s move introduces a fresh contest in the NRM primaries for Lwemiyaga, highlighting her ambition to serve the constituency and address its developmental needs.
