Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8 to May 11, coinciding with Victory Day celebrations marking the end of World War Two.
The Kremlin stated that the ceasefire is based on humanitarian considerations and has urged Ukraine to follow suit.
Russia warns that it will respond to any ceasefire violations by Ukraine.
This is not the first ceasefire attempt, as over 20 previous attempts have failed, including a 30-hour Easter truce that saw both sides accuse each other of hundreds of violations.
Ukraine’s response to the latest ceasefire remains to be seen.
