Tribute to Pope Francis: Ugandan Lawyers honor his commitment to marginalized communities, environment

Lawyers in Uganda have paid tribute to Pope Francis’s legacy, emphasizing his dedication to supporting marginalized communities and protecting the environment.

Anthony Asiimwe, Vice President of the Uganda Law Society, noted that Pope Francis’s mission has inspired their legal aid initiatives, encouraging legal professionals to advocate for those in need.

Nicholas Ecimu, President of the Uganda Catholic Lawyers’ Society, reflected on Pope Francis’s advocacy for tree planting and his commitment to caring for the vulnerable in society.

Barnabas Tinkasiimire, Member of Parliament for Buyaga West, shared his experience from a visit to the Vatican, praising Pope Francis’s humility and simplicity, which left a lasting impression on him.

Senior Advocate Jet John Tumwebaze commended the papacy’s leadership style, which emphasizes merit over nepotism, in stark contrast to the dynamics of worldly politics.

The event was organized by the Uganda Catholic Lawyers Society and Catholic Lawyers’ Society International in support of the Uganda Law Society, highlighting the Pope’s lasting impact on legal professionals and social justice initiatives in Uganda.
