Police FC is expected to announce the appointment of Matia Lule as their new head coach following the departure of Simon Peter Mugerwa.
The decision comes after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Soltilo Bright Stars, which left the team languishing in 12th place in the Uganda Premier League with just 23 points.
Mugerwa, who successfully guided the Cops to Uganda Premier League promotion by winning the FUFA Big League title last season, struggled to maintain consistency this term.
His tenure included four wins, 11 draws, and seven losses, although he did lead the team to the Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinals.
Lule will take over at a critical juncture in the season, with the aim of improving the team’s league standing and steering them to a stronger finish.
Mugerwa’s exit marks the end of his time at Police FC, though his coaching career has also seen him at Fire Masters, Sports Club Villa (Assistant Coach), Soltilo Bright Stars (Assistant/Interim Head Coach), and Proline FC (Head Coach).
Additionally, he led Bulemeezi (2019) and Busiro (2022) to Buganda Masaza Cup triumphs.
