The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among has issued a stern warning to Parliamentary Committees to meet deadlines or else they will be named and shamed.

In her communication to the House, Speaker Among expressed concern over committees tasked with handling petitions but have yet to complete their assignments and report their findings to Parliament.

She revealed that 10 bills and three petitions remain unattended, causing delays in the parliamentary calendar and affecting the legislative agenda.

The Speaker ruled that all concerned committees have one week to finalize their work and present their reports before the processing of ministerial statements begins.

Meanwhile, the Speaker also acknowledged receipt of the Electoral Commission’s extension on the voters’ register update/registration exercise.

She revealed to Members of Parliament that the Commission had extended the process, which was meant to expire on February 10th 2025 to the 17th of the same month.
