Buganda Kingdom has officially declared a total collection of 1.6 Billion Shillings from a voluntary contribution drive commonly known as “Luwalo Lwaffe” from the Kabaka’s subjects for the year 2024.
These funds were collected from January-December 2024 from the Kabaka’s subjects living within Buganda Sub-Counties, Counties, those living outside Buganda in Uganda and the Baganda diaspora community.
While releasing this accountability to the press at the Kingdom’s main seat at Bulange-Mengo, the Second Deputy Katikkiro also Minister of Finance for Buganda Kingdom, Oweek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa explained that the funds have greatly improved the kingdom’s operations.
In the accountability list, 116m Shs was released for the Kabaka Education Fund, 100m Shs was allocated to the construction of various hospitals in Buganda kingdom that include; one in Nyenga-Kyaggwe County, Busimbi in Ssingo County and Mukungwe in Buddu County, 193m Shs was allocated to health camps and 137m Shs was committed to the restoration of Kasubi tombs project, among others.
