The acting President of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Erias Lukwago has welcomed the move by the Uganda Law Council to issue a practicing certificate to Kenyan lawyer, Martha Karua.

This follows a meeting held on Monday morning by members of the Uganda Law Council Chaired by Justice Irene Mulyagonja to forge a way forward following the response from Karua regarding the prior decision by the Council that denied her a practicing license in Uganda on grounds that she is not bringing something new to the legal team among others.

It should be noted that Dr. Kizza Besigye appointed Martha Karua to lead the legal team to defend him in the General Court Martial.

This decision comes at a time when Dr. Besigye and his compatriot Haji Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya’s case resumes on Tuesday January 7th 2025 in the Makindye based Court Martial on charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Lukwago says this decision will strengthen their legal team as they face the Court Martial on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Lukwago has maintained his accusation against President Museveni alleging that his mission is to use the General Court Martial to oppress Dr. Besigye, vowing to use his legal expertise to dismantle this court this year as they did with the notorious Nalufenya Police detention center.
