Archbishop Kasujja implores Nuns to be the mirror of hope

Archbishop Kasujja

The Pope Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja has challenged the Religious to be the mirror of hope, courage and understanding of one another in the world full of confusion today.

Archbishop Kasujja says the religious have the duty to evangelise the young ones to know that hope is anchored in God the provider of human needs. This will build their courage and understanding because many have lost track because of hopelessness.

He says the religious must be a source of inspiration drawn from the Holy Spirit rather than from their own making.

He said this during the mass in thanks giving for the Institute of the Immaculate Heart Mary Reparatrix commonly known as Ggogonya Sisters yesterday where 8 Sisters professed their perpetual vows, Two sisters celebrated 25 years in service while five Sisters celebrated 50 years (Golden Jubilee) and four Sisters celebrated 60 years (Diamond Jubilee).

He said observance of the three vows; chastity, obedience and poverty is the daily life of any Catholic Religious man or woman but exemplary life based on their charism that is prayer and helping of the vulnerable speaks louder as the society is able to get the true life of the Religious Sisters of Immaculate Heart Mary Reparatrix Ggogonya.

He hailed the sisters for their dedicated service in their mission in Algius, Algeria where the catholic faith is almost not seen yet it’s the place where Fr. Siméon Lourdel Marpel (aka Mapeera) and Brother Amans started their journey to evangelise East Africa.

Archbishop Kasujja reminded those celebrating anniversaries and the entire congregation to observe God’s commandments that call for righteousness in life.

Archbishop Kasujja co-celebrated with the Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, Bishop Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa the ordinary of Kiyinda Mityana diocese among other Monsignor and Priests.

The two Sisters who have celebrated 25 years are Sr. Mary  Noeline Nanyondo from Kitakyushu parish Kampala Archdiocese and Sr. Maria  Nantege Bukalamuli Kiyinda Mityana Parish and the four Sisters who celebrated 60 years (Diamond Jubilee) are Sr. Mary Specioza Nakiyingi from Bukalamuli parish, Sr. Maurice Nakuya from Kalungu Parish, Sr. Remigius Nsangi Namwangu from Kisubi Parish and Sr. Mary Catherine Nabagulanyi from Ggoli Parish.

The Mother General Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Speranza Namusisi acknowledged the support enjoyed from the Catholic Church, praying for the fellow nuns to jealously protect their vows.

Institute was founded in 1927 with inspiration of the Holy Spirit by Archbishop Henri Streicher (WF), Sr. Maria Majella Nambi and Archbishop Louis Joseph Cabana (WF) and elevated to the canonical status in 1948, dedicating 4th of January as the day for profession of vows.
