Buganda Kingdom has closed the voluntary contributions for this year 2024 called “Oluwalo” at Bulange Mengo with a total collection of 1.5 billion shillings.
It should be recalled that in 2023, the Kingdom collected 1.4 billion shs from the same voluntary contributions.
While closing this event at the Kingdoms’ main seat at Bulange, Mengo, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga commended the Kabaka’s subjects for the generous support and contributions rendered to the Kingdom to facilitate its operations.
Katikkiro however noted that the year 2024 has been characterized by a lot of challenges but he was thankful to God that the Kabaka’s subjects have remained united.
The voluntary contribution also known as “Oluwalo” comes from the Kabaka’s subjects from the 18 counties within Buganda, and the special group of Baganda living in other parts of Africa, the United States of America and Europe.
Meanwhile, the leading groups in this year’s contributions were the Kabaka’s subjects living in counties of Kyadondo, Buddu, Kyagwe and those from the diaspora.
