A group of politicians formerly of the Democratic Party (DP) under the “DP Bloc” has finalized plans of unveiling the Commissioner of Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba as their presidential flag bearer ahead of the 2026 general election.
The faction, led by Abed Bwanika, the Kimaanya-Kabonera Division in Masaka City Member of Parliament, former Makindye East Member of Parliament, Michael Mabikke and political activist Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku says Mpuuga, the Nyendo-Mukungwe Member of Parliament is the right man to lead the Opposition in the central region.
On Thursday the team of DP-Bloc members together with Police Officers visited the venue at Namirembe Road in Kampala ahead of their meeting to be held on Friday December 6th 2024.
On behalf of the organizing committee, Bwanika informed the media that Mpuuga will be the chief speaker at the event that has been cleared by the police.
He adds that all opposition political parties have been invited including the National Unity Platform (NUP), DP, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) among others.
