Gov’t Commits to Develop Laboratory Services

Dr. Susan Nabadda, the Commissioner Laboratory Services in the Ministry of Health

Uganda has committed itself to implement the resolutions passed in the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) Diagnostic Convention 2024 to transform and strengthen diagnostic services.

The four-day Convention is the first-ever and was conducted in response to the growing need for robust diagnostic networks amidst global health emergencies, infectious disease outbreaks and increasing healthcare demands.

It has attracted over 300 health leaders, policymakers and laboratory professionals and heads, researchers, civil society, and industrial partners to address critical challenges and innovations in diagnostics across Africa.

Dr. Susan Nabadda, the Commissioner Laboratory Services in the Ministry of Health who has been part of Uganda’s contingent to Abidjan, Ivory Coast noted that Uganda has taken a step in providing quality diagnostic services to its citizens.

She says the Government will ensure diagnostic services are further extended to the communities.
