KCCA to Evict Vendors off the Streets

Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the State Minister for Kampala

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced plans to remove all street vendors operating from Kampala’s streets in an effort to address congestion and the impassable roads in the city.

This decision was revealed by the State Minister for Kampala, Kabuye Kyofatogabye while responding to concerns raised by Members of Parliament on the Presidential Affairs Committee of Parliament.

Minister Kyofatogabye attributed the current state of affairs to the former KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, whom he accused of being unserious and lazy.

He claimed that Kisaka failed to implement previously agreed-upon actions to address the issue of congestion in Kampala.

Kyofatogabye has assured that he will raise the concern with the new acting KCCA Executive Director Frank Nyakana Rusa.

He vowed to remove all vendors from the streets, citing existing policies that prohibit illegal vending that require vendors to operate from designated markets in the city.
