The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has challenged the investigators and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for targeting lower officers over corruption leaving senior ones at large.
This was in his address today at the CID headquarters in Kibuli while opening a two day Coordination Meeting with the office of the DPP aimed at enhancing the Socio- Economic Transformation of Uganda through timely disposal of offences.
Byakagaba said the public is frustrated by the selective prosecution that has always targeted small ones while the rich who perpetuate corruption stay protected.
The IGP said this kind of meeting with the Office of the DPP was timely in respect to the institutions charged with the responsibility of keeping law and order in the country especially in view of changing syndicate and trans-international crimes such as money laundering, cyber crimes and human trafficking among others.
The President is expected to preside over the closing ceremony tomorrow 5th/September 2024.
