A section of Politicians want the Land Commission of Inquiry led by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire be closed that it is straining the government treasury.

In May this year, President Museveni granted an 18-month extension to the Commission to enable it complete its task after the initial six-months-tenure expired on November 9 2017 and the first extension of six months in 2018.

The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) faction led by Joseph Bbosa says the land committee has over stayed and consumed a lot of tax payers’ money without a conclusive report.

Bbosa adds that the commission’s operations are turning to be that of a tribunal which in the future will clash with the judicially.

However, in his response to this, the Commission’s Secretary Dr. Douglas Singiza said that many politicians and Ministers have been fighting against the Land Probe but they are still digging deeper trenches.
